A tafsīr in the axis of the kalām or the f？qh disputes: al-？？ārātu’l-ilāhiyyah ila’l-mebā？isi’l-u？ūliyyah

Abstract: The present study investigates the method and content of the tafsīr book titled al-I？ārātu’l-ilāhiyyah ila’l-mabāhisi’l-u？ūliyyah by Najmudd？n al-？ūfī and the life story of the writer as well. Based on the information found in classical works, the first chapter discusses the life of the writer and his period and also the effects of his teachers on himself. The second chapter discusses his method and his goals to attend via this method. The third chapter is about the content of the book along with some examples. Considering its content, al-I？ārāt is a remarkable book, because it contains valuable information on how sects interpret verses they present as an evidence for their belief and application views in accordance with organization of Quran and also on the reaction of the majority. In short, its transferring disagreements in kalām and fiqh to tafsīr briefly and doing this in accordance with the viewpoints of sects, makes it a different book. This study tries to determine the place of al-I？arat among other tafsīrs, whether it is an authentic tafsīr, and the gap it fills academically
