DATA COLLECTING/COMPILING AND NEW METHODS IN PUBLIC OPINION POLLS

Public opinion polls/Public opinion surveys are defined as the function of collecting systematic, scientific, objective information from a selected sample to generalize a larger group. The public opinion poll that has become widespread with the development of democracy and globalization has been criticized in many places. It is also accompanied by debates that the public opinion polls manipulate voters due to deviations in political tendencies and especially in polls/surveys on the results of elections. Public opinion surveys involve many studies with interdependent steps. Among them, the compilation of the data constitutes an important step. The manner in which the questionnaire is conducted affects the accuracy of the data from the sample and the research costs. Since the earliest times, data has been compiled using mail, telephone and face-to-face interview methods. Along with the developing technology, e-mail and online data compilation methods of the data are added. In this study, data collection/compiling methods that constitute an important step of public opinion polls are discussed. After discussing the methods in general, traditional methods are compared with new methods and which method is more suitable as data collection/compiling method in order to make the public opinion polls/survey right is discussed
