ABSTRACT Halal and haram terms, which are important elements in Islamic religion, affect food consumption. The interest and demand for halal food is increasing day by day and it is becoming a new market. The desire to consume halal food is directly related to clean and healthy food and beverages. The Muslims' religion-dependent holiday perspectives and service expectations are shaped according to the determined rules. In order to carry out Halal tourism concept, the first things to be done in this context are; is the provision of the environment of consumption of products prepared in accordance with Islamic rules and laws. For Muslims, it is necessary to make the determination of halal and forbidden food and to raise the awareness of the society and businesses. In this study, the situation of the halal food and halal tourism concepts in Turkey were investigated. Within this scope, 63 hotels, which indicate that they serve according to halal tourism concept, have been evaluated. A list of the hotel's booking sites, helalinn.com, halalbooking.com and the web sites of their hotels, and a table where these criteria were evaluated on an enterprise basis were created. The suitability of halal-concepted hotels to halal food and halal culinary criteria has been examined and it has been seen that the work done in this area is inadequate. It is stated that 95% of businesses are provided with halal food products, whereas only 38% have halal culinary certificates. The rate of business that documented this situation is 4%.
