Abstract:

Soviet Russia Ambassador to Ankara S.?. Aralov invites the painter Yevgeni Y. Lansere (1875-1946) to Turkey in the year of 19922. The skill of the Russian painter, who had the habit of keeping daily notes during the journey he made, became obvious during his visit to Turkey. In addition to his daily notes, the artist paints the impressions of trips, as well as three small and three big picture books that convey the most subtle details that draw attention to Turkey. On 30 May 1922, Lansere, which is on the road from Tbilisi, travels towards ?nebolu by ferry to Trabzon, Hopa, Rize and Samsun ports. The painter who reaches his destination stays in Ankara for three months. Lansere who is interested in Antique and Byzantine periods and history of Seljuk’s in the first stage, as understood from the memorized notes and paintings he did, is also very influenced by provincial houses with a different architecture which had not yet adopted "European style". As well as giving festive fun on the trip notes, on 13 August 1922, he explains the fire in the Embassy in Ankara and depicts it with pictures. The master painter painted the Russian monks living in Ak?ehir in Turkey, Halide Edip Ad?var, his husband Adnan Bey, Parliament member, and Mustafa Kemal Pasha as well as the portraits of local people. With this trip and careful work "A Summer in Ankara 1922", Yevgeny Lansere deserved Russia's first Soviet cultural embassy title in Turkey
