Borderline Personality Disorder: A Review

This study reviews the features of borderline personality disorder (BPD) and psychological, biological and social factors underlying its etiology are discussed. Despite earlier strong emphasis on the importance of early childhood trauma, it is not the only factor in BPD development and biosocial theory, as an interactive model, is more descriptive in understanding such a complex syndrome. Increased impulsivity in BPD has both interpersonal and social implications, and causes high rates of violence and crime. In order to decrease the incidence of BPD, It's important to increase awareness in the society about the risk factors of BPD starting from early childhood
