Lausanne exchange experiences: Case of ?atalcaKeywords: ?atalca,g??,Nüfus Mübadelesi,saha ?al??mas? Abstract: Migration is one of the common activities that living beings perform to survive. Humans, like other creatures, have experienced various migrations throughout history, for seasonal, economic or security reasons. The population exchange between Turks and Greeks was one of the significant examples. After the end of World War I, population exchange was necessary between Greece and Turkey, as a result of changing world order and borders. As a result, in 30th of January 1923, Convention Concerning the Exchange of Greek and Turkish Population shave been signed and there has been a population exchange between Turks in Greece and Greek Cypriots in the Turkish borders. In this study, the data of the field study conducted in ?atalca, a district of Istanbul, was used. The aim of the study is to learn the experiences of the survivors or their relatives and to use this information in interpreting the population exchange. In this respect, demographic, socio-cultural, political / political aspects of the exchange are revealed. The fact that the exchange process is a matter of tragedy for both sides is revealed
