Abstract:

The purpose of this study is to determine primary education 1st grade students’ hand preference, sitting and paper position, pencil grasp during the literacy learning process. The study was conducted in accordance with the survey method. The participants of this study were 99 students attending 1th grade in the province of Hendek at Sakarya. The data collection process was carried out in two stages. In the first stage the photographs of the students were taken when they were writing a text dictated on them. These photographs were thoroughly analysed by the researcher. As data collection instrument “Writing Process Evaluation Form” was used. Analysis of the data obtained from the study frequency, percantage were used. The results of the study showed that the majority of the students write with their right hands, almost half of the students were sitting in correct position, minority of the students write in the correct paper position, more than half of the students had correct pencil grasp
