Abstract: During the history of religions, a certain level of clergy came together and organized meetings to solve religious problems. It is called the "Council" or the "Synod" where the Christian clerics held meetings to decide on faith and religious practices. In 340 AD. in Gangra, which is now called ?ank?r?, a very important synod was held for the history of Christianity. Thirteen priests and a church administrator gathered under the presidency of Hypatios at the Gangra against opposing ideas to established Christian belief spreaded by Sebaste (Sivas) patriarch Eustathius. In the Gangra sinod, the ideas of the Sebaste patriarch were found to be contrary to the belief of the Christian, and a statement was published containing twenty decisions against the ideas of the Sebaste patriarch. Those who disobeyed provisions of this Declaration were thrown out of the church and excommunicated. Decisions taken in the Gangra synod were accepted and made ecumenical in Kad?k?y Council which was held in 351 A.D. The decisions taken in the ?ank?r? synod are known as the ?ank?r?
