SYNTACTIC AND SEMANTIC SOME NOTES ON KARAIM

Karaim, with its linguistic richness, contributes to the historical and contemporary Kipchak Turkic while it is an important dialect of the Turkic Language in Eastern Europe. Karaim, who chose Judaism in history, was able to carry his socio-cultural back ground to the present day. They have created a literary language with different writing systems such as Hebrew, Cyrillic, Polish, and Lithuanian origin Latin alphabets. The works produced by these alphabets are remarkable in terms of revealing some characteristic features of Karaim and shedding light on the language material of Kipchak Turkic. Karaim's as a Crimea, Halich and Trakai different three dialect has emerged in the historical process. These dialects have undergone a number of differentiations in phonetic, morphological, lexical, syntactic and semantic areas under the influence of dominant languages. Particularly Slavic languages, Oghuz and Crimean Tatars are the main factors affecting the dialects of Karaim. In addition to these factors, the role of alphabets used in the formation and continuity of the Karaim written language should not be overlooked. Which has its own linguistic features in its dialects, is the only dialect of Karaim left alive today, Trakai dialect, it can be said. Karaim has experienced unproductive period as a written language. In addition, Karaim is lived in the dialect of Trakai by little number Karaim as the language of speech. But, if the necessary steps are not taken in order to maintain its vitality and continue in this direction, it will be inevitable that Karaim will be lost.
