Ibn Daqiq Al-Id’s Hadith Commentaries and His Method in These Commentaries

Throughout the history of Islam, scholars emphasized the proper understanding and interpretation of the hadiths, and at this point they have considered it a religious duty to make efforts and to engage in the mind process. Hadith commentaries emerged as the product of such an effort. The purpose of this study is to introduce the hadith commentaries of Ibn Daq？q al-？d while examining his approach and ascertaining whether he had his own method of commentary and interpretation or not since Ibn Daq？q al-？d was an important figure in the history of understanding and interpratating hadith, one of the fundemantal sources of ？slamic law, in proper way. In the introduction section, the importance of hadith is discussed and the historical progress of this effort is given briefly. In the first chapter, the concept of hadiths related to ？slamic ruling was discussed and the place of the hadiths about ？slamic law (ahkam) in the other narrations was tried to be determined and definitions of term“Ahadith al-Ahkam”(hadiths which islamic law derived from) are given. In the second chapter, commentaries of the books writen by Ibn Daq？q al-？d were examined in detail. In the third chapter, some methods he had recourse to, such as siyaq, jamu’t-turuq and sabab-i wurud were discussed
