The Development of Population and Facts That Have Part in This Development of Esenyurt

The most developed city with its endustry such as trade, tourism and education in Turkey is Istanbul. Istanbul’s population has been identified as 15.067.724 by the Address Based Population Registration System in 2018 which had an urban population of 806.860 people in 1927 –when the first census was made in Republican Period- Istanbul has enteredinto a rapid growth progress, especially from the 1950’s. The most important factor that played a role in the increase of the population is the investments that was made in industrial and commercial areas and especially in the transportation. With these investments, incerased business opportunities and the impact of commercial vitality, Istanbul has begun to take intense migrations more increasing than the most of the cities of the country. Until the 1950’s Istanbul’s population had created a density in Surici, Kad？koy and Uskudar regions. With the effect of rapid migration in Istanbul, new settlements has formed on both sides of the city. One of these is the Esenyurt district. Esenyurt was a village settlement of which economy depends on agriculture and stock farming until the end of 1960’s. The labor force requirement which occured with the movement of the industrial foundations to the district caused big migrations. With these migrations, Esenyurt has entered into a rapid growth progress. Demographic investments that were made for the district have provided the improvements of functions such as trade, education and health in course of time. In this study, we will try to explain Esenyurt’s population development stages and its reasons while it had a village status until 1989 by the effect of rapid population growth and its becoming the most crowded district in Istanbul with its 891.120 inhabitants in 2018
