Stadyum’s Evolution In The Historical Context of Sport Spaces

Subsequent to religious buildings, stadia are among the oldest buildings in human history and they still have a great status in today’s city and social life. In order to have a better understanding of its evolution, this study examines stadia in historical context of sport and sport spaces. After starting with origins of sport, sport spaces and stadia’s architecture will be viewd in main historical periods. Afterwards contemporary stadia’s evolution, architectural features and main design trends will be further explained. Finally, a classification of sports spaces through history along with stadia’s status related to this classification will be explained
