Interpretations on the School-Themed Drawings Made by the Children in Pre-schematic Stage (4-7 age)

Abstract:

The purpose of the research is to determine whether the school-themed drawings made by the children in pre-schematic period reflect the characteristics of their period and to predict what the students want to express via these drawings which are a means of communication. The art-based research design has been used for the conduct of the research in which 30 volunteer students that study in the kindergarten in the district of ?emi?gezek, Tunceli have been involved after the necessary permissions have been obtained. The method of semiology has been used for interpretation of the drawings made. As a result of the research, it has been seen that the drawings made by the children reflect the characteristics of their period and they give clues about their world of emotions. Communication is an important means of expressing emotions and thoughts. Therefore, parents are required to enable children more to express themselves by means of drawing at home while teachers and directors are required to do it at schools
