The Effect of MS strength, Carbon Source and Light on Germination of Balci Safflower in in vitro ConditionKeywords: Carthamus tinctorius L.,balc?,in vitro,?imlenme Abstract: Aspir a member of Asteracea family, is the only annual oilseed plants that has wide adaptability and, is prominent in both nutrition and biofuel production. In this study, it was aimed to establish an appropriate procedure for the germination of mature seeds of Balci safflower in in vitro conditions. For this purpose, the effect of MS strength (control, 1/1, ?, and ?), carbon source (30 g / L sucrose, maltose and fructose) and light (dark and light -16/8 photoperiod) on in vitro germination of safflower seeds, were examined. After four-week culture, it was determined that the seeds in MS medium improved better than the control group and the optimal medium was ? MS for morphological development. However, the sugar used in the medium was effective and sucrose found to give better results than the other sugars. Safflower seeds were germinated in both light and dark conditions but it was better developed in light conditions. Conclusion, the best germination rate was in ? MS medium supplemented with 30 g sucrose, and in seeds cultured in light
