Approaches To Social Justice: The Western And Islamic Thought In The 20th Century

Social justice can be defined as a comprehensive understanding of the justice in which every individuals can fulfill their social rights. There are different interpretations between Western and Islamic thought on social justice as the explanation of the relations among individuals on certain rights. In Western thought, social justice is builded onto political economy, and it is used as a tool to diminish imbalances. The first part of this study handles with the approaches on social justice in Western thought. Especially, the approaches of some contemporary social justice theoricians are tried to be examined. In the second part, the approaches of some Islamic thinkers are taken into consider as an alternative to the Western understanding of social justice in terms of economical inequalities.
