A Scientometric Overview of the Research on Business Intelligence and Related Technologies on a Global Scale

Business intelligence is a technology that can integrate data warehouses fed from different sources of data, data mining and other statistical methods to create meaningful, visually rich, and reasonably appropriate reports. The study aims to reveal the current state of the literature on business intelligence by presenting the analytical structure of the scientific studies through the use of scientometric methods. In this context, the current status is summarized via descriptive statistics about the distributions of authors, journals, institutions, countries, citations, and also trends, furthermore advanced methods such as network analyses and text analytics are used to determine the relationships between the entities, e.g., publications, journals, authors, and to provide the information on the contents of the works in summary. Within the scope of the study, the concepts of data warehouse and data mining are reviewed where business intelligence is related at the primary level to emphasize the importance of the subject, and in this conceptual framework, the findings from the scientometrics of the research articles are presented that were published in the journals in the Web of Science basic database.
