Economic and Social Effects of Disasters: Evaluation on Turkey Case

It is known that throughout the history, there were disasters. There are natural disasters such as earthquake, flood, landslide as well as man-made disasters such as fire, terror, and plane crash. Disasters have similar consequences such as physical, economic, and socio-psychological losses regardless of location, time, and structure of them. In this context, it is known that Turkey has been subjected to numerous natural disasters in particular earthquakes and man-made disasters and the risk of exposure to those is still valid. In this study, disaster and concepts related to disaster are explored and types of disasters are elaborated. Then, economic, physical, social, and psychological consequences of disasters are evaluated through disaster examples experienced in Turkey
