Investigation of the Possibilities of Propagation a Mahaleb Rootstock 'Pontaleb' by Tissue Culture

In this study, the possibility of vegetative propagation by tissue culture of ‘Pontaleb’ seedling rootstock selected from the mahaleb population in France which is an important rootstock for cherries was investigated. Shoot tip explants was taken and then surface sterilized and planted. Murashige Skoog (MS) medium supplemented with 1 and 2 mg/l BAP, 0,1 mg/l IBA or NAA and GA3 were used. For proliferation and multiplication, MS medium containing 2 mg/l BAP + 0,1 mg/l NAA + 0,5 mg/l GA3 was found to be more succesful than the others but satisfactory results were not obtained in the study
