Effects of Seed Coating and Pelleting Applications on The Quality of Onion Seeds (Allium cepa L.)Keywords: Allium cepa L.,so?an tohumu,sürtünme katsay?lar?,tohum film kaplama, tohum pelletleme Abstract: The onion (Allium cepa L.) is one of the most important plants in the commercial sense in our country. Several studies have been done to increase the production of better quality seeds and mechanization practices on large areas. Seed treatments (film coating and pelleting) are carried out in order to ensure that seeds, especially in amorphous, light and small size, reach a large, heavy, smooth surface. In this study, some physical (shape, size, surface area, thousand grain weight) and mechanical (static and dynamic friction coefficient) properties of seeds were determined after seed application. When the physical properties of the onion seeds on which the seeds were applied were examined, it was found that it grew about 1.5 times and the weight of thousand seeds increased about 2.5 times. In terms of mechanical properties of seeds, the behavior of different surfaces used for transportation and storage are examined. It was determined that the change in these surfaces caused statistically significant differences after seed application
