A Survey Study on the Control of Chestnut Blight Practices of Farmers in District Beydag, Province IzmirKeywords: Kestane,Kestane Kanseri,Bilgi Düzeyi,?zmir Abstract: Chestnut trees are economically important for fruit and timber production in Turkey and also in the world. Chestnut blight (Cryphonectria parasitica (Murr.)Barr.) is the most important disease in the chestnut groves of Turkey. Quarantine measures and good cultural practices are recommended against the disease to reduce inoculum source and dissemination of the pathogen in Turkey. Chestnut production is an important source of income for the farmers of Beyda? district, province Izmir. Chestnut blight and other diseases and insect pests, cause serious yield and quality losses. In this study, conducted a survey study in 2012-2014 to determine the current knowledge level of chestnut farmers on the control of chestnut blight which caused serious loss in income, and to evaluate the information they obtained before and after theoretical and practical training. In this context, a total of 137 chestnut growers in 6 villages before the training and 43 chestnut producers in 3 villages after the training were conducted surveys.
