STUDY ON THE RELATION BETWEEN THE SPORTS IDENTITIES AND SUCCESS ORIENTATIONS OF STUDENTS IN SPORTS SCIENCES FACULTYKeywords: Spor,Ba?ar? Y?nelimi,Sporcu Kimli?i,Performans Abstract: The aim of this study is to determine the relationship between achievement goals and athletic identity of sportsman students. A total of 400 students (117 female and 283 male) from the faculty of sports sciences of Sakarya University participated in the study. A personal information form which includes questions such as gender, class, division, sports branch, age and income level to determine the demographic characteristics of the students; Athletic Identity Scale (Brewer and Cornelius, 2001) adapted into Turkish by Ozturk and Koca (2013) and developed by Elliot and Murayama (2008) adapted into Turkish by Ak?n (2006) in order to collect 2x2 Success Tendencies Scale data in the study. As a result of the research, it was found out that the female students' learning approach and performance approach were more than male students. It is observed that there is a positive and meaningful relationship between the total score of the athlethic identity measurement points and the scores taken from the sub-dimensions of achievements goals. It was seen that 386 of the participants had strong athletes identity and 14 of them had weak athletes identity. Students who have strong athletes have higher performance avoidance levels. As a result, it is seen that there is a positive and significant relationship between the total score of the students on the athletic identity scale and the scores of the sub-dimensions of success orientations. It is determined that the students who have strong athletes have more positive dispositions
