QUSHAYRIS (d. 465/1072) SUNNAH DEFENSE

Qushayr？, (d. 465/1072), who is more prominent with his S？fī views and identity, will be examined in this article from the hadith perspective. Qushayr？, who had been teaching hadith in the famous Ni？amiyye madrasas in Nisab？r for twenty seven years, has developed an important defense of Sunnah in his treatise Shiqāyetu Ehli’s-Sunnah, even though he has defended Ash ？arism and criticized the scholars. In the aforementioned treatise, he bases his views on many hadiths. On the other hand, er-Risale, one of the basic classics of tasawwuf, the spiritual experiences he has experienced and comments on behalf of the revival of Sunnah is important. He gets a number of conclusions. Qushayr？, in many of these interpretations based on hadith, like many Sūfī s, the text is the base rather than the health of the hadith. This means in the perspective of "sunn？" view bringing Tasawwuf closer to the Sunnah. In this context, Hijri III, IV, V and VI are examples of the century of Sunnah defense. In this article, Qushayris views on sunnah will be analyzed and synthesized with some examples by making use of the mentioned two works. The value added to science of hadith will be emphasized and attention will be drawn to the Sunnah defense
