New Improvements in the 2019 Building Earthquake Code of Turkey

Turkey has official earthquake code since 1940, and it is renewed at regular intervals in view of both the developments in earthquake engineering and in line with social needs. 2019 Building Earthquake Code of Turkey has improved the previous version published in 2007 by expanding its coverage. The most important improvements are the site specific earthquake hazard definition as well as earthquake design of tall buildings, seismic isolation and piled foundations. Non-linear analysis methods are used as mandatory for performance evaluation in some special cases.
