Why don't Turks go to the doctor?

Abstract:

Turkish learners of German have difficulty in learning German, as there are differences between two languages. These differences often lead to interference errors that become permanent over time and are repeated again and again. But is only the mother tongue the reason for this negative transfer? Does the teaching method, not based on contrastive language teaching, also prevent the learner from making interference mistakes? Are interference errors not underestimated? In the present study, the answers to these questions are sought. It also tries to point out the reasons for interference errors. It also intends to draw attention in this context to the importance of language comparisons, which, in our view, should not be the focus of a foreign language courses, but must nevertheless take a worthy place in the classroom. They not only lead to the prevention of interference errors but can also lead to a better understanding of a different or even matching grammatical category and thus make an important contribution to the language learner. Therefore, in the present study, the semantic roles of the dative object in German as well as in Turkish are presented, compared and evaluated.
