Effects of Nitrogen Rates on Physical and Quality Properties in Spike Grains of Tillers of Some Triticale (xTriticosecale Wittmack) GenotypesKeywords: Azot, bin tane a??rl???,karde?lenme, tane kal?nl???,tane eni, tritikale Abstract: Tillers in cereals contribute significantly to the seed yield. Cereals produce more than one stem/tiller and each stem/tiller have separate root and spike which have different grain characteristics. In this study, it is aimed to determine the effect of four nitrogen (N) rates (0, 40, 80, 160 N kg/ha) on grain width, height, thickness, thousand seed weight of spike in the tillers (K) and grain yield in six different triticale varieties (Tatl?cak-97, Melez-2001, Mikham-2002, Karma-2000, Samur Sortu, Presto) and five lines (TVD-3, TVD-4, TVD-9, TVD-17 and TVD-25). The effect of nitrogen doses was found significantly on grain width, grain yield, grain thickness, grain size of triticale varieties whereas, thousand seed weight was found to be insignificant. While N x K interaction was insignificant on grain width, grain length and thousand grain weight, grain thickness was found significant. It was concluded that the physical properties of grains of the first tiller had higher values than the second tiller and the nitrogen rate increased grain thickness of the first tiller
