EVALUATION OF FINANCIAL PERFORMANCE OF A TRAINING AND RESEARCH HOSPITAL IN THE CENTER OF ANKARA PROVINCE BY TOPSIS METHOD

Aim: This study was carried out with the aims of comparatively evaluating the financial performance and financial activities of a training and research hospital in Ankara and ranking its financial success over the years, and evaluating whether the TOPSIS method can be used in the analysis of financial performance for the hospitals. Method: The study was conducted using balance sheets and income statement data of the hospital between the years of 2007-2014. Twelve ratios which give information about the liquidity, financial structure, profitability and activity rates of the hospital were calculated. These financial ratios were converted to a single scorecard showing the general operational performance by the TOPSIS method and the obtained scores were tested for financial significance. MS. Office Excel program was used in the analysis. Findings: According to performance index value, the most successful financial period is 2007 (0.515), the most failing period is 2010 (0.264). Results: The high value of the performance index means that the distance from the ideal solution is less and the distance from the negative ideal solution is greater and the ranking is made according to distance.
