Alienation and Technology-Based Dystopia in Cinema: Cyberpunk Narrative

The study, which presumed that one of the most important emotional paradigms of dystopic movies with cyberpunk narration is alienation, starts with a description suggesting that alienation will become an indispensable companion of postmodernism, then goes on to examine the dystopian narrative and cyberpunk culture in cinema. After this conceptual construction, the question of how the alienation in the selected cult films became an atmospheric element in cyberpunk narrative was evaluated through the descriptive analysis method. As a result, in cyberpunk films depicting the postindustrial world, alienation is one of the essential elements of emulation, and dystopic cities have become a concrete space of alienation
