Ancial Performance Evaluation by Using TOPSIS and VIKOR Methods: An Application on XELKT

Decision Making can be conducted objectively and scientifically if and only if it has been carried out with the quantitative applications and algorithms, especially under multiple criteria. Multicriteria Decision Making process that has emerged in the last quarter of 20th century, enlightens the choice, ranking and grouping problems to reach the optimum solution including many issues as well as economic and financial ones, and helps to decision makers. Morover the mathematical applications of decision making in economic and financial issues is very important, since they include indefinity. The purpose of this research is to rank the firms that are registered toStock Market ？stanbul in Turkey and operate in the electricity sector, which is the most important energy source in the 21st century, according to their financial performances. The multicriteria decision methods TOPSIS and VIKOR has been employed and 8 firms has been ranked according to 7 financial ratios
