Abstract:

The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of surgical planning and application on the clinical outcomes of preoperative models of patients who underwent posterior C1 - C2 fusion using C1 lateral mass - C2 pedicle screw technique. Eleven patients who were admitted to our clinic with atlantoaxial dislocation were included in this study. Fused deposition modeling three-dimensional printer with special design was used for the production of three-dimensional printing material. Surgical planning was performed on preoperative models and applied. The mean age of the patients was 52.54 ± 20.45 years (24-75). Of the 11 patients, 7 were male (63.6%), 4 were female (36.4%). Two (18.2%) of these patients had congenital dislocation, 9 (81.8%) were admitted to our clinic due to trauma. The mean operation time of the patients was 260.90 ± 79.17 min. The mean preoperative atlantodental interval was 3.44 ± 1.38 mm and the mean postoperative atlantodental interval was 2.20 ± 0.89 mm. C1-C2 fusion with preoperative three-dimensional modeling is an effective method in the treatment of atlantoaxial dislocation. The use of these models offers surgeons advantages by increasing the ability to perform preoperative simulation. The 3D modeling technique reduces screw malposition during surgery and shortens the operation time and increases intraoperative safety
