Women Perception in Lamii's Texts (Mesnevi)

The society has attributed various values to woman and man who have different nature biologically. These values can be change from society to society and from period to period. Turkish society has given miscellaneous functions to woman and man in the result of socio-cultural, political, economical and religious changes. The woman has mainly affected from these changes in comparison with man. The glance at woman in the texts of Classical Turkish literature improving the influence of sedentary civilization and Islamic culture has been usually perceived negatively. Moreover, it has been paid attention that the sample texts’ contexts must be scrutinized in interpretation process. One of these contexts is text and the second is society in which poem is created. Lami’？, the poet of XVI century, has been one of the most frequently referred names to exemplify the negative glance at woman in Classical Turkish literature. Nonetheless, before the analysis of his texts, it has to be thought that why he assumed such an attitude. It is known that Lami’？ uses these woman types to give advise. His mesnev？ Veyse and Ramin is a text that include the woman types different from tradition. The issue that why these woman types are different has to be discussed, too. In this study, the mesnev？s of Lami’？’s Ferhad and ？？r？n, Salaman and Absal, Vam？k and Azra, Veyse and Ramin will be compared and the woman perception will be determined by means of reached outcomes
