TO WRITE A BOOK OF THE OTTOMAN LANGUAGE OR A BOOK REVIEW: Hal-i Pür-Melal yah？d Kitab-？ ？nhilal

For many years, The Ottoman language is taught in the universities of Turkish Republic. Until the early 2000s, the main sources of this teaching has been the books that have been written by Muharrem Ergin and Faruk Kadri Timurta？, who are two important linguists of Turkology in Turkey. Since 2000, the guides of teaching book for Ottoman language are published and they are very different as method from Ergin’s and Timurta？’s books, which have been a great tradition. Some of them is written and published by persons who are not linguists or even academics. Whereas, it is indisputable fact, surely that the teaching any language in terms of grammar, vocabulary, or writing and spelling is duty of linguists. Having a scientific or academic knowledge does not directly provide the competence to teach that knowledge correctly and properly. The knowing Ottoman language is also like this. However, especially in recent years, to know the Ottoman language is reduced only to writing, and this case is causing the misconception that anyone who knows Arabic letters can teach Ottoman language. On the other hand, to teach the Ottoman language which is one of the historical periods of the Turkish language even as writing is impossible without the semantic, functional or phonetic features of the words and suffixes. Therefore, amateurish books do not serve their purpose. On the contrary, they prevent or delay correct learning with the inaccuracies and deficiencies of them. In this article, some of the mistakes of a book published in 2018 is discussed, which is written by a writer who is not a linguist, unfortunately even if he has an academic title
