An Assessment of The Problem of Elderly Poverty in TurkeyKeywords: Ya?l?,yoksulluk,ya? ayr?mc?l???,ya?l? yoksullu?u ile mücadele Abstract: There is a problem of poverty and a poor segment in both developing and developed countries. This situation is necessary and even obligatory for the field to work and produce solutions. Poverty negatively affects all segments of the society. However, some disadvantaged groups are more affected than any other groups by poverty. It is a group of older people who are included in this disadvantaged group and they experience poverty in the most severe way. In addition to their age-related discrimination, older people can also face much social and cultural discrimination. If this discrimination is accompanied by economic inadequacies, people may find themselves at the center of poverty in the last days of their lives. Plans, programs and policies should be produced in order to fight old-age poverty; works and studies should be done on old age poverty not on poor old aged people. The problem with elderly poverty should be discussed extensively with macro applications rather than from a micro perspective. It is important to respond to the questions such as what are the types of discrimination that triggered the impoverishment of older people, how to deal with this discrimination and how to seek solutions to reduce elderly poverty
