TYPES OF THE PREPOSITION “LA: ??” IN ARABIC: THE EXAMPLE OF SURAH AL-BAKARAKeywords: Arap?a olumsuzluk edat?,La ve ?e?itleri,Nahiye,Nafiye,Bakara S?resi Abstract: The conjunctions and prepositions are very important in Arabic in connecting the sentences and perceiving the meaning, as it is so in every language. The contents and functions of prepositions and conjunctions vary according to the situation. One of the most frequently used prepositions in Arabic is “La”. There are five different functions of this preposition according to its usage in a given sentence. It has two types such as ‘an-Nafiya’ that states negation and added to verbs, and ‘an-Nahiya’ that is used for negative imperative verbs. Similarly, there are also forms of ‘an-Nafiya li al-jins’ that functions as ‘??? /Leyse’ and invalidates the whole type. There is another type of ‘La’, called ‘zaida’ (surplus), but this type is not often encountered in texts. It is considered that this type functions to emphasize and consolidate the meaning. Each different type of the preposition ‘la’ has special conditions and meanings. Even only in the Surah al-Baqarah, there are 165 different functions of the preposition ‘la’. This study examines in detail the characteristics of the preposition ‘la’ and its usages in the Surah al-Baqarah
