MTHFR A1298C Homozygote Mutation Causing Superficial Thrombophlebitis And The Development Of Toxic Hepatitis During Treatment

Abstract Here, we present the case of a 36-year-old male who visited our clinic with complaints of pain and swelling in the axilla. Coagulation panel and genetic analysis (Thrombophilia panel) of the patient were studied and he was diagnosed with superficial thrombophlebitis. MTHFR A1298C homozygote mutation was detected and thrombophlebitis treatment was arranged; however, toxic hepatitis developed during the treatment. Inpatients with no additional risk factors, while planning the treatment for superficial thrombophlebitis, follow-up should be contsidered so as to prevent unforeseen complications
