Some Characteristics Of Rhododendron Species And The Importance For Beekeeping

Adequate nectar and pollen sources are one of the basic and important necessities of production in beekeeping workings. Several rhododendron species has pretty important role in live activity of bees and some insect species. By this respect, honey bees are most important visitors of these plant species and essential component of natural life. In this review article; the herbal, economic and chemical characteristics, ecology and habitats, as well as some other important features, the flowering times and duration have been examined of some species of Rhododendron in the Black Sea Region. In addition, the characteristics and quality of honey produced from Rhododendron species were examined and some information about the usage areas of Rhododendron honey, reducing the effect of honey poisoning and the regulations about consumption of this honey kind have been presented
