ANATOLIAN JUDGESHIPS and THEIR TITLES IN 17th CENTURYKeywords: XVII. Yüzy?l,Anadolu,Kad?,Kad?l?k Rütbeleri,Kaza,Mecmua Abstract: DOI: 10.26650/TurkJHist.2018.372290 Notes held by qadis (magistrates) on duty are alternative historical sources explaining the structure and functioning of the judgeship institution, which, in turn, was a very important establishment in terms of the Ottoman ilmiye (learned group) and its provincial organization. These records, called mecmua, provide important and detailed information about the judgeship profession and towns, called qada that cannot be found in other sources. In this manuscript from the 17th century, which is the subject of our study here, there are both Anatolian and Rumelian judgeships. Although some records have been published earlier regarding the titles of the Rumelian judges, it has remained unknown what the titles of the Anatolian judges were in the same time period. Thus, this document is the first and earliest document regarding these titles, because it also includes the titles of the Anatolian judges of the 17th century. This study examines both, the situation of the titles of the Anatolian judges, and the changes to be made in the future, as well as the value of qadi manuscripts, which constitute alternative historical sources for researchers interested in the ilmiye organization
