Shaykh Al-Islam Minkarizade Yahya Efendi’s Booklet Entitled “Risaletün f？ Beyani Milleti ？brah？m”

Minkar？zade Yahya Efendi was a prominent scholars of Ottoman geography in XVIIth century. Minkar？zade Yahya Efendi, who run over eleven years as shaykh al-islam, compiled works in the fields of the commentary of the Qur’an, fiqh (Islamic law) and logic. Being famous for his fatwas he was also a leading commenter of the Qur’an. Risaletün f？ Beyani Milleti ？brah？m was one of Yahya Efendi’s works compiled in the field of the commentary of the Qur’an. In this work which was written upon a question asked to him, Yahya Efendi did comment and consider a Qur’anic phrase, Millet-i ？brahim. From that point of view, he analyzed whether it is lawful or not for someone to say he is from Millet-i Ibrahim. This article contains an evaluation and text of the abovementioned booklet
