Adaptation of Gender Role Attitudes Scale to Turkish: A Study of Validity and Reliability

The purpose of this study is to adapt “Gender Role Attitudes Scale” into Turkish and to conduct the validity and reliability analyses. The research was conducted in three stages. A total of 326, 278 and 57 volunteer undergraduate students took part in the first, second, and third stages of the study, respectively. In the first stage, translation study, exploratory factor analyses were performed. In the second stage, confirmatory factor analysis, compliance validity and reliability were examined and in the third stage test-retest results were examined. As a result of exploratory factor analysis, it was seen that 38.6% of the total variance of the scale was explained. As a result of confirmatory factor analysis, it was observed that the adapted scale had a good fit. The compliance validity of scale was examined by the Ambivalent Sexism Scale. The internal consistency coefficient was .88, test-retest reliability coefficient was found to be .77. The results of the study show that the Turkish version of the Gender Role Attitude Scale is a valid and reliable scale
