A Folk Medicine Therapeutic Method From Mongols To Anatolia: Covering With Animal SkinKeywords: Halk hekimli?i, hayvansal ürünler, tedavi Abstract: Animal products have a significant place in folk medicine therapeutic methods. Covering with animal skin is one of the treatment practices under this topic while it is mainly applied in two different methods. In the first method, a freshly killed animal’s skin is wrapped on diseased area or on the whole body. Whole patient is placed in the inside of the animal following the internal organs of the freshly killed animal are removed, in the second one. Covering with animal skin is used for various indications both in Anatolia and in the Turkish communities living out of Anatolia. The oldest records of this method appear in the 13th century Mongolian documents. It can be said that covering with animal skin which is still used nowadays is a folk medicine therapeutic method traces back to the Mongols to Anatolia
