A RESEARCH ON THE PATIENT RIGHTS AWARENESS

This research was carried out with the aim of determining the level of awareness of patients about patients' rights and examining the relationship between their level of awareness of patients and their demographic characteristics. The field study was carried out on 250 patients and their relatives who were selected by simple random sampling method among patients who applied to health institutions and establishments in the province of Sakarya between April and May 2017. Descriptive statistical methods, t test, ANOVA and correlation analysis were used in the evaluation of the findings obtained in the study. As a result of the research, it was seen that the patient's awareness level of patient rights was high. Significant relationships were found between patients level of awareness of patients' rights related to health service and patient safety and the level of awareness of patients' rights related to information and staff. However, no significant relationship was found between gender, age, educational status, and monthly income and patient rights awareness levels
