A RESEARCH ON THE USE OF INFORMATION TECHNOLOGIES OF ESKISEHIR VOCATIONAL SCHOOL STUDENTS

Vocational schools in Turkey and all over the world are higher education institutions which aim to educate the skilled manpower that are needed by the country’s needed sectors. The rapidly changing and developing information technology is now integral part of our lives. For this reason, the importance of educating qualified human resources equipped with information technology at vocational colleges is critical. This study was carried out to determine the level of information technology usage of students who study at Eskisehir Vocational School (EMYO) of Anadolu University. The aim of the study was to determine whether there is a relationship between students' class, gender, computer ownership, the type of high school they graduated from, their residency type during school and the level of use of information technology. A questionnaire was prepared according to the Likert scale and conducted with 200 students. These students currently study at the office management and managerial assistantship, foreign trade, real estate and real estate management, tourism and hotel management and marketing programs of Anadolu University Eskisehir Vocational School. According to the results of the research, a statistical relationship was found between the first and second grades of students and their use of information technologies. There was no statistical relationship between gender, computer literacy, high school type they graduated and the types of residence and use of information technology during their education
