Species Identification of Small Mammal Fauna in Bilecik Province and Molecular Researches for the Protection of Gene Resources

In this study, it was aimed to determine the ecological, karyological and morphological properties of the fauna of small mammals from Bilecik province in between 2016-2017 years. Animals were identified by analyzing their nest structure, chromosomal feature and pelage color accordingly species-specific characteristics were recorded. The chromosome number and structure are presented as ideograms. In total 9 species were recorded, in which Mus musculus domesticus, Rattus rattus, Microtus lydius, Crocidura suaveolens species were the first data in Bilecik province. For the construction of cDNA’s, RNA isolation was performed from the blood samples of these identified animals. These cDNA’s were stocked for subsequent molecular studies. According to the field work the most sufficient habitats for small mammals were determined as forest coast and cultivated lands in Bilecik province
