The Tradition of Humor Publishing in Turkey and Azerbaijan: Similarities and Differences

Caricatures can be defined as a ‘curtain of dream’ where the entire social changes, conflicts, political and ideological struggles reflect on. A caricature can explain adroitly the idea of a book having thousands of pages. Satirical magazines, particularly caricatures, give messages to the target groups with a side meaning skillfully hidden in a laughing packaging which is a product of a very sharp intelligence. Furthermore, satirical magazines are part of struggle for culturel power. Thus, by semiotic analyzing, caricatures make it possible to understand the ideological differences in a society and the perceptions of some social groups on some occasions. In this study, have been analyzed the similarities and the differences of humor publishing tradition between two countries which are Turkiye and Azerbaijan in the context of their historical background.
