Newly Identified Southernmost Distribution of Scots Pine (Pinus sylvestris L.) Natural Stands in TurkeyKeywords: Pinus sylvestris,Sar??am,Türkiye,Kayseri Abstract: In this research, natural southernmost relict distribution of Scots pine stands in Turkiye which are recorded in 2018 have been submitted in two different locations of P?narba?? Forest Subdistrict of Kayseri Regional Forest Directorate. Both of newly recorded Scots pine stands are being found on Eastern part of Taurus Mountains near P?narba?? - K?z?l?ren - ?amboynu and Sar?z - K?rk?srak - Virikler localities. The coordinates cited for P?narba??-K?z?l?ren-?amboynu locality are in between: 38?31’16’’ N - 36? 18’ 43’’ E latitude & longitude. The altitudes of the stands are in between 1800-2050 m. The coordinates cited for Sar?z-Virikler locality are in between 38?26’08’’ N - 36? 40’ 08’’ E latitude & longitude. The altitudes of newly recorded relict stands of Scots pine mixed with European black pine are about 1710-1845 m near Sar?z-K?rk?srak-Virikler settlement and prevailed among nearly 18,9 ha. Collection of herbarium samples of Scots pine and European black pine sampled from the sites and pictures have been taken on the date of June 27-28, 2018. These two relict populations of Scots pine and European black pine should be certified as Gene Conservation Forest or Seed Stand or at least given High Conservation Value Forest status under Nature Conservation function of P?narba??
