A RESEARCH ON THE ISSUE OF “DISAPPEARED CHILDREN of ARGENTINA” IN THE FRAMEWORK OF RIGHT TO TRUTH

The main application area of right to truth which has been one of the most mentioned concepts of accountability for past abuses starting from 1990s is gross human rights violations. The scope that is most obviously acknowledged and applied is as for forced disappearances. This right includes the enlightenment of crimes against humanity and gross human rights violations committed in the past, finding out which crimes and violations were committed by and against whom, why and by means of which methods and possibilities and a request of a declaring all the results to society. Right to truth has been applied to cases concerning forced disappearances as well that took place during the military coup in Argentina. One of the most upending violations of the coup was stealing and selling the babies of women that were killed under torture in concentration camps. The mothers of the victims came together against this act and founded the Grandmothers of Plaza de Mayo organisation. This group of grandmothers has been struggling for the truth to learn the fate of their grandchildren
