DETERMINATION OF TOURISM SUPPLY CAPACITY OF ACCOMMODATION ENTERPRISES IN EDIRNE

For a destination; to integrate into changing and developing tourism movements, it is important to identify tourism potential and supply opportunities effectively. For tourism sustainability, analyzing and evaluating the tourism capacity and supply potencial of the region is necessary. Edirne; has been identified as one of the 15 Brand City in the Turkey of Trakya Culture Corridor by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism. The main objective of the research is to provide data that will be a source for tourism planning and policy in the city of Edirne. The paper analyses the supply potential of tourism oriented accommodation establishments of Edirne city. The research is based on primary and secondary data analysis. In the study, the tourism supply capacity of Edirne was tried to be put forward with the survey analyses. Data were obtained from hotel managers/owners of locally representatives interview surveys. According to this research findings, it was determined that the accommodation supply facilities in culture-oriented Brand City Edirne, should be developed as it is not sufficient in terms of tourism expectations of participants. Also it is observed that the knowledge and consciousness levels of the hotel managers/owners about tourism status in Edirne is too high. Majority of the participants stated Edirne’s cultural tourism potantial as prime opportunity but the main deficiency according to participants was insufficient recognition and promotion of the city. In Edirne, it is known that a large number of excursionist visit the city. As a result of the research, it has been determined that the effective policies for excursionist visitors should be urgently produced
