An Analysis of Problemsand Solutions in Interiorsand Furniture use for the Elderly

Scientific and technological developments result to extend to human life and the elderly population which is increasing in society. The extension of the life cycle and the rapid increase in the elderly population also increase the expectations of older people to improve their living conditions by examining venues. Starting from this vision, this study aims to determine the problems of elderly people in use of furniture and interiors. A survey questionnaire was prepared to identify the problems of elderly people while using furniture and interiors and implemented in the province of Giresun ages ranging between 50 and 95 with 73 people. The findings obtained from the study of indicate that elderly people has less difficulties in areas such as bedroom, living room, offices, entrances while they have more difficulties in kitchen, bathroom and toilet in use. It was also observed that the difficulty in performing largely social activities of the elderly. As a result, the necessary precautions should be taken when editing the habitat of the elderly, making the interior design for the elderly at home, in the area of social measures by developing design that can be easily used in the elderly is recommended
