THE RESONS OF VISUAL ARTS EDUCATIONAL STUDENTS' PREFERENCE OF GAZI UNIVERSITY AND TEACHING PROFESSIONAL

Teaching is performed within a relationship and through communication with individuals, in order to help to shape a generation in a positive way. This study aims to determine why art education undergraduate students prefer the visual arts and Gazi University. The study was designed as a descriptive study. A total of 196 students from the art education department of the Gazi Faculty of Education constituted the participants, and were selected through the convenience sampling technique. Multiple-choice questions and a 3-point Likert-type scale were used to collect data and content analysis was used to analyse the data. The results are of critical significance in terms of both pointing out students’ occupational preferences, and revealing the reasons for preferring Gazi University, the oldest established institution educating teachers in the visual arts
