On the Use of Time and Space in Video Art

The perception of time and space can be traced in art starting from the use of early periods of visual art. The time factor in painting occupies a very important place in works of narrative art productions. The narrative art events were painted on the same plane one after the other. In 20th century, after the 1960s, video art started to be widely used in the field of art. These productions differ from other art formats with the ability to transform time and space. The technology of the moving image to be used in the field of contemporary art brought new possibilities. The video art which creates new ways of expression for the artist, has also caught the possibility of directing the perception of the art audience. In accordance with the Istanbul biennial, selected examples of the artistic impact of video art performed over time and space are examined in this article
