Theological Approaches to the Origin of Languages: The Example ‘Baqillani’

The debates on the origin of languages in Kalam have been usually discussed in the context of kalam which is one of the epithets of Allah and the problem ‘kalamullah’. It seems that the discussion and the related discussions have been carried out in order to enable them to establish their own preferences of theological/itiqadi approaches. The main reference of the theologians is the Qur'an. The Qur'an, also, refers to the language very much because of its qualities such as being Arabic and its i’caz. Theologians have paid attention to the Qur’an's emphasis on language and its acceptance as an authority.
